Git rm by regex

I need to git-remove all files (recursively) in a directory that end with -e. Is there a way to use a regex (i.e. /-e$/) to remove all these? There are hundreds of them.

This question is specifically if it is possible to use regex for such a situation. I am aware that I can just use bash expansions for the same purpose.
