I am concered that stack exchange inherently encourages trolling

  1. Upvotes count more than downvotes, so offensive but true posts boost rep

  2. Highly negative posts are deleted, encouraging massive zero sum effort to remove them while freeing negative rep from the troll

  3. Highly active negative posts are pushed to the bottom where they are the second most visible

  4. The grey highlighting brings attention to the post

  5. Because mods require a reason for deletion, this results in a new wave of trolling over the reason

  6. All these factors interact to maximize the attention the troll received

  7. Aggressive banning instead of restricting encourages alt creation
