Info command doesn't exist

by Blue-Maned Hawk   Last Updated October 20, 2019 04:02 AM

I was looking at the output of man tar, which says that if I want more information, I should use info tar. I do want more information; however, when I try this, bash returns the error

bash: info: command not found

Is there a package I need to download in order to use the info command? If not, what must I do to remedy the situation?

Linux provides manual pages to know more about command(s). You can use these manual pages for almost all of the commands, . For help related to tar you can use the manual page related to it, it explain the tar options available in detail. Please type: man tar for help if manual page help is not required then use: tar --help I hope it helps you.
